The Governor's Quality Care Awards Program, which was launched by Governor John Engler in 1998, recognizes outstanding state-licensed day care homes and centers, nursing homes, homes for aged and adult foster care facilities.

"Each year we ask Michigan residents to tell us about a care provider who has made a difference in their lives and the response is always overwhelming and very heartwarming," said CIS Director Kathy Wilbur. "We have heard about caregivers who have saved lives by reacting quickly in a crisis situation and others who have altered lives through their daily acts of love and compassion."

The nomination form is posted on the CIS web site and mailed to licensed care providers in December each year. The deadline for submitting these nominations is Feb. 1. The selection process includes an on-site review of all finalists by Wilbur and her staff.

The certificate reads: "This certifies that AuSable Valley Home has won a 2001 Governor's Quality Care Award for providing outstanding care to Michigan's most vulnerable residents."
